In the second episode of the Demi Lovato documentary, Dancing with the Devil, Demi goes into detail about what she has suffered medically as the result of her overdose. A common misconception is that if you’re smoking heroin, you cannot overdose, however that’s exactly what Demi Lovato did that night and ended up almost losing her life.
She said that she ended up having two strokes, and a heart attack, and that she can no longer drive anymore because she has blind spots. Sometimes when she’s pouring a drink she’ll miss the cup entirely because she just can’t see where she’s going.
Demi Lovato’s lasting after effects of her overdose
The sad fact of the matter is, this night could have been prevented, Demi was crying out for help, she tried to get her friends who were over and having game night to stay with her but they were tired and it was late. However, they said that they were going to come over in the morning and go hiking together and it seemed Demi was all down for that plan.
However a few miles down the road, her former choreographer pulled over and told the friend that was with her, “I feel weird about this, do you feel weird?” apparently not weird enough to turn back around and prevent Demi from contacting her former dealer again.
However, Demi does not place the blame on her friend for leaving, she again, turns the blame on herself and said that even though she told everyone that she was going to bed, that instead she went and contacted her dealer… and that’s when everything went left.
Her dealer, the one that she had called over that night after all of her friends left, took advantage of her and that she didn’t fully realize what had happened until about two months later.
When initially asked about the sexual encounter she had had with her dealer, she had said that it was consentual, however, once she was out of the woods and realized just how high she was, she realized that she was not mentally present enough to give consent to anything. That’s the thing that people so often forget about these kinds of encounters, in order for them to be valid, and consentual, both adults have to be mentally present enough to give consent.
Otherwise… it could pose a very criminal problem. It wasn’t said in the documentary whether or not Demi ever actually pressed charges against her dealer, at least not in this episode. Stay tuned!!!
