She might no longer be on Twitter, but Chrissy Teigen is still using her voice to share a very strong message. The former model shares a call to action to end anti-Asian violence in the country.
Chrissy, who is married to John Legend, addressed the rising concern for the Asian community after some politicians have referred to Covid-19 as the “China virus.” Here’s what she has to say.
Chrissy made her comments during an appearance on the Kelly Clarkson show.
Chrissy Teigen Is Calling For An End To Anti-Asian Violence
She said, “I think we just came out of a long line of politicians that put a target on Asian people’s backs by calling it ‘the China virus. I automatically think of when my mom’s without me, ‘How do people look at her? How do people treat her?’ A lot of mothers and fathers are being targeted around the country and it’s so obvious what the motive is.”
While Chrissy makes it pretty clear that politicians are to blame for the hate-driven motives behind the random attacks towards Asian-Americans, she believes that everyone should work together to bring an end to this senseless violence.
“If people can just reach out in any way to support the Asian-American community, APPI in general,” Teigen pleads. “There’s Stop AAPI Hate, which is a wonderful organization to donate to and an organization called 18 Million Rising is really incredible.”
She also said that her fans should help support Asian-American run businesses in their communities. She added, “It’s little things like supporting Asian-owned businesses around you, supporting your local Chinatown.”
