The 22-year-old Australian animal activist and her husband, Chandler Powell welcomed their new daughter into the world on Thursday, March 25. It also happened to be their one year wedding anniversary!

Bindi shared the first photo of their daughter on her Instagram account on Friday.

“Celebrating the two loves of my life”, she wrote in the caption “Happy first wedding anniversary to my sweetheart husband and day of birth to our beautiful daughter. ❤️ Grace Warrior Irwin Powell.”

Bindi Irwin welcomes daughter Grace Warrior Irwin Powell to the world!

Bindi went on to explain that she honored both her own and husband’s families with the baby’s first name, Grace, but Warrior Irwin, the infant’s middle names, are a tribute to her late father, Steve and his legacy as a wildlife warrior.

Fans have watched Bindi grow up when they first fell in love with her affable father, Steve Irwin and his antics when watching The Crocodile Hunter. Bindi was only 8 years old when her father was killed by a stingray barb to the chest. He was filming some scenes for Bindi’s show: “Bindi the Jungle Girl” at the time. Steve was only 44 years old.

Steve’s widow, Terri Irwin said when Bindi announced her pregnancy, “While I wish that Steve was here to share this beautiful moment, I know that he would be so proud.”

We can only imagine the wildlife warrior would be extremely touched by the tribute in his first grandchild’s name and we can all expect her to follow in the Irwin family footsteps, continuing to showcase some of the least popular/terrifying animals like snakes and crocodiles to the world.

Fans also hope to see the newest addition to the Irwin family in the next season of Animal Planet’s Crikey! It’s The Irwins where the Terri, Bindi, Bob and Chandler take viewers inside the Australia Zoo and continue Steve’s mission to protect the world’s wildlife.
