The former Real Housewives of New York star just sent over $540,000 in emergency aid to Texas amid the state’s deadly winter storm, with a lot of people saying that she’s doing more than some politicians from the Lone Star state. Here’s what you need to know.

According to reports, Bethenny and her volunteers are bringing aid to Texas, in the wake of a deadly storm that’s left more than 4 million people without power and food. Along with Michael Capponi’s Global Empowerment Mission, she is packing trucks and sending aid to Texas who have been left devastated by the natural disaster. Some of it includes non-perishable foods like rice, oats, beans, protein bars and hydration kits, along with PPE and hygiene essentials like toothpaste, soap, dry shampoo, masks and hand sanitizer.
“There are houses with burst pipes everywhere, icicles hanging from people’s ceilings and a lot of damage and destruction. Phase Zero is always ‘pull it together and get the aid’ because people are freezing and suffering, and then the next phase is helping people rebuild,” Bethenny said, according to Fox News.
The RHONY alum took to Instagram account last week to announce her charity’s efforts and to request donations for the cause.
“It’s a tragedy, it’s a disaster, it’s a catastrophe,” she declared on Instagram. “People are freezing, people have nothing, people are hungry and cold.”
She added, “Our warehouse is loaded with aid to help those who so desperately need us. YOU have literally been the heroes in all of these disaster relief efforts, digging deep when it’s hardest to do so.”
