A lot of loyal and die-hard Britney Spears fans just got news that they most likely didn’t want to hear. Britney’s father Jamie Spears and Bessemer Trust Co. will continue their co-conservatorship over the chart topper.
However, Britney’s lawyer hinted that she may seek to terminate the conservatorship in the future. Here’s what you need to know.
According to reports, a Los Angeles judge has sided with Britney Spear’s legal team in giving a third party equal power to her father in managing the 39-year-old pop star’s finances. Of course, a lot of fans are feeling rather dismayed over the news, seeing how they want Jamie Spears completely out of the picture.
Britney Spears Fans Just Got Disappointing News
But Judge Brenda Penny ordered her father and financial company Bessemer Trust to work together on a budget and investment plan for the singer. Jamie Spears had objected to the ruling, as this lessens his control over the state.
Britney’s attorney Samuel D. Ingham III addressed the court on Thursday and said that he originally proposed the co-conservatorship between Bessemer and Jamie to give both parties “an equal division of responsibility, in the hopes that they would sit down and figure out together the best way to handle this complex estate for the benefit of my client.”
“It’s no secret that my client does not want her father as co-conservator, but we recognize that removal is a separate issue,” the attorney added.
Both James Spears and Bessemer Trust are expected to work together on a budget and investment proposal for Britney Spears‘ estate following Thursday’s hearing. Another hearing on the conservatorship is scheduled to take place next month.
Britney Spears has been in the news again after the New York Times release of Framing Britney, a documentary that followed Britney Spears’ rise to stardom and the media pressure that’s often blamed for her public breakdown in 2007.
So far Britney Spears herself has not made any comments about the issue.
