One of the most scary things about this cult is they would record their members brain activity while they were watching actual scenes of violence, not portrayed violence like in movies or anything like that, but actual footage of people being slaughtered, When the subject would express shock or horror or want the experiment to stop, they would tell them that that was not good for the experiment and the subject would be forced to go on and keep watching these horrendous film.
One hispanic female member of NXIVM said that the last scene in this film was of actual cartel members murdering and mutilating a bunch of women, and at the end a cartel member held up a woman’s head and said “This is what we did to your whores.”

Meanwhile, Raniere was off smiling, giving lectures, wondering what it was like to be the murderer in these situations. Yes, that’s right, he wondered aloud what it was like to be the murderer. Where did they get access to this kind of footage?
That remains a mystery, that I’m not sure will ever be solved. The thing is, these members were not hardened criminals so they weren’t prepared for this no limits type of indoctrination, lots of them would have actual meltdowns, even psychotic breaks, upon being exposed to this treatment, but when that would happen the incident was very hush hush and they were always escorted out.
A former member named Ana Cecilia came forward and said that when she was first invited to one of their gatherings by Alex Betancourt, it was a family affair. She told her Mom, who was with her at the time ‘I feel like we’re being hypnotized’ (ironic, because Nancy Salzman used to specialize in hypnosis) but her Mother just laughed it off.
Six months in, she was in the middle of an intensive with Nancy when she said she walked out because it felt wrong. When Nancy came after her she said that she told her that she felt like if she dedicated everything to Keith’s mission that she would lose everything that she loved, including her family. Nancy told her that it was all okay, and that she would see them on the other side.
That’s when Ana Cecilia had a psychotic break.
She said that after that she lost clarity of what was real and what wasn’t and that when she overheard her boyfriend back at the hotel having a conversation with Nancy with them telling him to bring her back to the center, she fled, half naked out of the hotel.
Fortunately, they got her an ambulance and sent her to a hospital, there she got in contact with Rick Ross and he told her that she was not the only person that came from NXIVM to have had a psychotic break.
One person even committed suicide.
Kristen Snyder, a NXIVM member who was taking a course in Alaska in 2003, went missing. Her last known whereabouts was when she took a kayak out into Alaska Bay. There, she overturned the kayak and killed herself. She said in the suicide note that was found in her truck that NXIVM had turned off the emotional center in her brain.
Before this, she had been a woman with her whole life ahead of her, a woman with a Master’s degree, but instead she got sidetracked by a cult, and wound up leaving this world far too soon. The bad thing is, they never recovered her body, and there was no investigation done, and to this day, there are no real answers about what happened to Kristen.
Raniere told his followers that Snyder was still alive and living in Mexico, and that her death was a hoax but that was not true. It is suspected that NXIVM used a lot of the money from the Seagram’s heiresses in order to cover up Snyder’s death, but nothing can be confirmed.
