NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers finds that Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) had a twin sister named Samantha Evans, played by her real, actual, twin sister, Andrea Hall from 1977-1982, and that is when, unfortunately, Samantha Evans took her leave of us because she was killed by the Salem Strangler, AKA Jake Kositchek.
Everyone in the DOOL audience practically panicked because they thought that it had been Marlena who had met her maker but as it turns out it had just been her identical twin sister, Samantha.
NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: So where does Sami get it from?
Samantha Evans might have breathed her last breath in 1982, but Samantha Brady (Alison Sweeney) has graced us with her presence ever since. She is one of the twins belonging to Dr. Marlena Evans and Roman Brady (originated by Wayne Northrup now played by Josh Taylor) and now that we know that little bit of backstory we can move on with the question, where does Sami get her dramatic tendencies?
Marlena and Roman are two of Salem’s most even-tempered, well-balanced people so it does not make sense that Sami Brady would come from those two.
However sometimes, and we can all attest to this, our children do not directly take after Mama and Papa but rather after someone else in the family line. And it looks like Sami Brady inherited her Auntie Samantha’s flair for the dramatic!
When Samantha Evans entered the scene she was an aspiring actress who, when she came to Salem was envious of her twin sister’s life. So using her talent as an actress she impersonated Marlena, kidnapped her and had her committed to a mental institution for a few months.
It took Marlena’s then husband Don Craig to figure out that it wasn’t Marlena by her handwriting sample! Through some convoluted events, it was Samantha that eventually ended up in the mental institution, taking Marlena’s place and allowing our beloved doc ti go back to her own life.
It looks like Sami Brady inherited her crazy, meddling ways from her Aunt. The two twins were apparently in the middle of repairing their relationship when the Salem Strangler broke into Marlena’s apartment and killed Samantha then and there.
Her sister’s death was something that Marlena took exceptionally hard and two years later when her daughter was born she named little Sami after Samantha, oh boy, how apt that name turned out to be!
While Sami was never an aspiring actress (was there a storyline I missed there?) she has definitely pulled some epic lying and scheming during her day to rival that of Auntie Samantha. Like right now she is basically threatening who’s name isn’t Will Horton (Chandler Massey) that they need to bow out of adopting her daughter Allie Horton’s (Lindsey Arnold) baby.
That someone specifically being Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) even though Allie herself thinks that Rafe would be a great Dad and it should not be up to Sami who makes her daughter’s decisions but I guess Samantha Brady missed that big memo.
So say if Auntie Samantha had survived or the Salem Strangler had offed another victim instead of Marlena’s sister, would OG Samantha be behind Sami’s scheme? Judging from what we know about Samantha’s history and the fact that when she died she was trying to patch things up with her sister Marlena who is definitely not behind Sami’s scheme, I would say that no, she would not be on Sami’s side.
I would also venture a guess to say that she may even go as far as to counsel Allie since she herself was never actually a parent and tell her to live up being young while she still could. That being said, would Sami’s own fate have been different if Aunt Samantha had been around?
I think it’s safe to say that everyone’s fate would have been a little different had OG Samantha been in the picture, but perhaps Sami may have had a voice of reason to steer her back from the brink, or cheer her o.n, as it were, when things got too crazy. Maybe. Who knows. Stay tuned!!!
