TLC ‘Doubling Down With The Derricos’ spoilers finds that Daddy Deon Derrico is having some trouble bonding with one of the latest additions to his family, and that is little Awesome Dawsyn herself. He says that he’s because he’s still grieving over the little son that they lost, Carter, but that was two years ago.

Granted, death is not really something that you really ‘get over’, you just get more used to the pain as life goes on. And maybe that’s true in the case of Deon, the wound is still pretty fresh and he may just be afraid to get too attached to Dawsyn and not want to hold her right now, but that did kind of get in the way of Karen’s plans.

Karen Derrico wanted to him to hold Dawsyn and give her her breathing treatment while she folded clothes, but Deon refused. He said that the clothes could be folded later and that the medical thing was just not his avenue. He proceeded to tell Karen that he had never had a ‘heart’ baby before and she quickly reminded him that she had never had a heart baby before either.

TLC ‘Doubling Down With The Derricos’ Spoilers: Deon’s reluctance to bond with Dawsyn

She said it had nothing to do with doing the treatment itself, but that she just wanted him to bond with Dawsyn. However, Derrico said that he needed to be able to work through that on his own and that she didn’t have any idea about what he is going through as a man.

Both Motherhood and Fatherhood can be tough, I cannot imagine what it’s like to have to parent 14 children and worry about where all that income is coming from. I just can’t. However. I think in this case, Deon needs to bite the bullet and hold Dawsyn and at least try to give her her medical treatment.

He needs to power through this because he has 13 other healthy children, it’s just the one that has any kind of special needs, so technically he only has to remember any special details about one of his children. He’s lucky, because there are entire families of multiple special needs children out there, and both parents have to remember to do their art.

He needs to start working through his trauma by holding Dawsyn. Maybe he also needs to talk to someone, at the very least his pastor, because he needs someone to counsel him through this. This needs to be addressed, pronto. Stay tuned!!!
