The Derricos decided to do something a little non-traditional for their baby shower. They had already had the date saved and everything but as it turns out, thanks to an earthquake, their triplets decided to come a little early. That didn’t matter though, because the Derricos decided to go ahead any way with their already planned baby shower.
It was adorable, the kids thought that “a baby shower” meant a literal shower where you bathed the babies. Mama Derrico had to correct them by saying, “No, it’s not a shower like you or I would take.” ah, to be that young and innocent again.
TLC ‘Doubling Down with the Derricos’ Spoilers: A late baby shower
The guest list was expansive because not only did they invite their friends and family, but they also invited everyone who was involved with the pregnancy. Including their doctors and nurses! I thought that an interesting addition because even in other high risk pregnancies I’ve never seen a Mom extend the invitation to the medical team that helped bring the babies into the world.
But the Derricos are a loving, grateful bunch and they wanted to celebrate, with everyone, the fact that their babies came into the world relatively healthy, except for baby Dawsyn.
While the family is grateful that the babies all came here and are all alive, the worry and the fear is still there. I felt sorry for Deon when he got emotional on camera and asked why God would allow them to go through the worry and fear of potentially losing another baby, when they had just lost one two years prior.
Honestly, I think both of these parents need a hug, and a nap. Especially Karen Derrico, because she said she hasn’t been sleeping while being home with her brood of 11 and going to the hospital every day to feed her babies.
Imagine, keeping a stiff upper lip in front of all 11 kids, going to the hospital to feed babies, and hosting a baby shower all at the same time. They pulled it off but I honestly do not see how they did it. Bless them. Stay tuned!!!
