Is Sharon Stone going to replace Kim Cattrall as the new Samantha in an upcoming Sex and the City movie? That’s what fans can’t help but wonder. Sex and the City, which ran as a television show from 1998 to 2004, starred Kim, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristen Davis. Here’s what you need to know.
During an interview with Andy Cohen on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, both Cynthia Nixon and Sharon Stone were promoting their new movie, Ratched. When Andy asked the ladies if Sharon would be suited as a possible replacement for Kim Cattrall as the new Samantha, Sharon said that while she did not hear about the rumors, she said, “But any time I could have an opportunity to work with Cynthia would be an honor to me.”

Cynthia, meanwhile, also seemed to be open to the idea of having Sharon Stone in the next movie. “I think Sharon would be, of course, totally amazing [as Samantha],” said Nixon. “Kim was incredibly great as Samantha, I think Sharon would totally make it her own.”
The actress added: “I’ve also heard many people say — including Kim Cattrall herself — that if we were to have a different fourth woman that maybe it would be a woman of color this time, and I think that would be amazing as well.”
Kim Cattrall has previously spoken about her potential replacements. However, it was just recently that Sarah Jessica Parker pointed to Ellen DeGeneres as a great candidate to play the next Samantha.
Kim said, “I am partial to @TheEllenShow but @Oprah was always my 1st. But then there are the goddess’s [sic.] @TiffanyHaddish or @SofiaVergara So many fabulous actresses to choose from that will make Samantha their own!”
