Even though he is worth an estimated $500 million dollars, Hollywood actor Robert De Niro claims that he is out of dinero, much to the surprise of his fans everywhere. In fact, there’s a new report that says De Niro’s estranged wife Grace Hightower is asking for an emergency order for the actor to raise her monthly American Express credit card limit from $50,000 to $100,000. But De Niro says that’s not possible because the global pandemic that has been the coronavirus has put a strain on his finances. You don’t say?
According to Page Six, Grace Hightower’s lawyers say that the actor cut her credit card limit from $100,000 and said that both she and her two children have been named from the actor’s home in New York. However, reps for the actor say that he is feeling the financial pinch as well as he had to pay his investors $500,000 on a capital call. Apparently, Robert De Niro had to borrow money from his business partners because he doesn’t have the cash. He also says that he is losing out on two of his investments, Nobu and the Greenwich Hotel. Court documents reveal that the actor lost $3 million in April and $1.87 in May.

De Niro’s lawyer said, “His accounts and business manager … says that the best case for Mr. De Niro if everything starts to turn around this year, … he is going to be lucky if he makes $7.5 million this year.” Adding that the actor has also dramatically cut his spending, the lawyer added, “These people, in spite of his robust earnings, have always spent more than he has earned so this 76-year-old robust man couldn’t retire even if he wanted to because he can’t afford to keep up with his lifestyle expense.”
