NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers apparently there is more to the Kristian Alfonso (Hope Brady) split at DOOL than we first reported on.
It looks like Alfonso was told by producers that they were going to give her character a 5 month hiatus and then bring her back with a new story.
This did not set well with Alfonso because honestly who wants to take 5 months off work right around the Christmas holidays?
No one, that’s who. Apparently this is not the first character they have done this way recently.
Jennifer Deveraux (Melissa Reeves) and Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) have also been rumored to have had this treatment.
With the controversy surrounding Reeves recently we could kind of see it, but what on earth did Martsolf do?
Also it looks like Hope, even though she has had a major part in building DOOL will not have a huge exit because the producers did not know until after production wrapped that she was leaving to pursue other options.
So I guess that means she’ll have an exit like that one guy on All My Children where he went to pack his skis away and they found his body in a closet years later. (Hey, I just heard about it I didn’t exactly see that episode!)
NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: The real reason Kristian Alfonso left DOOL – Soaps going forward
Is this going to be a thing among the other characters of DOOL though? Are they going to start employing people for half the year and then letting them go as storylines dictate?
Seems like a very unstable way of doing things if you ask me. Is this what we’re looking at foing forward in the world of soaps?
Granted, this could give some staple soap actors other opportunities to do other acting gigs, but that is only a good thing if the actors want to pursue other gigs.
Some actors like the relative stability of soaps and honestly, I don’t blame them. I dare say if I were an actor I would like that kind of stability as well.
However I guess with the shut downs and social distancing and the fact that almost everything is happening virtually now that might be the reason why soaps are cutting back on cast members, at least part of the year.
Soaps don’t have the budgets that they used to and that is sad because a lot of the most inventive storylines of all came from soaps themselves and if you watched The History of Soaps (which can be watched on Hulu) then you will know that soaps permeate almost every kind of tv show there is today. Let’s hope we can get back to business as usual soon. Stay tuned!
