In an attempt to prove to the world that she has learned her lesson after her remarks on her instagram story saying how we should use our “White Privilege” to stop racism in the country (Oh Lord, the problems within that sentence.), youtuber Olivia Jade has decided to donate to the National Bail Out fund which is for protestors who were jailed during the Black Lives Matter protests. In theory, this is a great idea, using the money that she has amassed for a good cause instead of just sitting there and posting makeup tutorials like she did when her Mom and Dad plead guilty. She got a lot of backlash from that.
The good thing is, she’s not the only one that did this. She tagged a lot of her wealthy friends to do this as well, including sister Bella Rose and Kylie Jenner’s best friend Stasi. So she is raising awareness among people that could actually make a difference. However her comments are tone deaf considering her parents crimes were born of..you guessed it, white privilege! But I guess you could say her heart was in the right place. And this is way more productive than what she did when her parents plead guilty, then she posted makeup tutorials within a week of their court date. That was quick, wasn’t it, Olivia?

A lot of viewers are simply not buying her sentiments as real, saying that she’s donating money so that she can simply come back and be a youtuber again. The timing is a little suspect because she is currently trying to relaunch her beauty brand as well, but right now that may be a difficult sell for the teen because her brand has been quoted as “dangerous” to advertisers and that no one would be willing to invest in her unless the marketers were just that desperate for attention. Yike! The education scam didn’t help, her tone deaf comments aren’t getting her anywhere either. Maybe it’d be wise of Olivia Jade and other influencers who have no idea what they’re talking about to just to sit this one out and do what they do best, hit the donate button. That helps too.
