NBC ‘Days Of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers indicates that in the past couple of days, (Gabi DiMera) Camila Banus has come under fire for doing absolutely nothing. What was mean by that is that she basically refused to use her twitter platform to speak out and say anything during these times of civil unrest. She has not posted anything saying she was pro movement or against movement. The only thing she has posted seemed a little, well, honestly, incriminating. She posted a tweet saying this: “It’s unfortunate freedom of speech only applies when you say what everyone else says. Since before these protests twitter has been a negative space for me so with that being said bye @twitter for some time. I will protect my happiness.” followed up with a heart emoji.
A lot of fans are interpreting this to mean that she is an “all lives matter” person, or that she’s pro cop. When in reality she really hasn’t said one thing or the other. Maybe she does believe in the movement itself but doesn’t like the riots and violence associated with it and wants to distance herself from that. That’s a valid point of view, however, the way she phrased things does not really make her look good on the social media atmosphere in this climate.

The strange thing is just a few days prior she had posted about being of cuban heritage with afro-cuban ancestors so you would think that this would be a cause that was kind of close to her heart, but several generations and a few hundred years can certainly cause a disconnect. After all, I’m not sure if I could identify with any of my ancestors from a few hundred years ago, even if I could go back in time and meet with them. There’s also the fact that Banus has, at first glance, enjoyed a place of privilege for quite awhile, so maybe she doesn’t actually know what the correct position is to take in this scenario, maybe she’s still learning herself.
Until Camila comes out and says something as inflammatory as “All Lives Matter” her positions shouldn’t be assumed. Yeah, her statement was pretty incriminating but until we know what her position actually is, we shouldn’t cancel her just yet. It looks like she won’t be posting what her position is though, so I guess if there is any commentary on what her positions are in this timeof unrest, it will be discovered later.
