CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers finds that the kickoff to Abbott week has been a good one so far. As we rolled in Tuesday, viewers were taken back to beautiful days of 1999 before John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) passed on. The episode focused mostly on business but gave a beautiful insight of the relationship between John and his son, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman).
As a little backstory, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) managed to win over Jabot Cosmetics from the Abbott family – because why was his own company enough when he could monopolize the rest of Genoa City? Jack spent what seemed like ages trying to get the company back for his father.
CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ spoilers: Back to the 90s
On September 17, 1999, Jack got news that Victor had finally lost his control of the cosmetic business, and that it would fall back into the hands of the Abbott family. Jack, of course, was thrilled, and planned to hand the business over to John. However, Victor told Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) that the entire thing was all a well-articulated plan to show his respect for John and his love for Ashley. After all, he probably wouldn’t win his future father-in-law over by stealing his business and then sleeping with his daughter.
Meanwhile, Billy Abbott (David Tom) is spending summer in Genoa City and he is unhappy to be spending a summer away from his friends and in Genoa City. Despite this, he does seem to have his eye on a beautiful local girl. Spoiler alert: his cringeworthy lady-chasing ways won’t change over the next two decades. To wrap up day 2 of Abbott week, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) is patting himself on the back, and Jerry Douglas is just as lovely to see on the soap as always.
