CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers is here to help close out another theme week and bring our visit with the Abbotts to a close. It’s been an enjoyable visit that allowed us to touch base with the Abbotts throughout their good and bad times, and really helped drive home the point of the multi-family pronged power struggle in Genoa City.
It’s also got us wondering when they and the Newmans will be rejoined by the Winters. Not that CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers are hinting at anything. Okay, we are, but it’s something we can all probably agree on.
CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers Throwback For June 5: Jack worries about Billy
Anyway, this episode aired on December 24, 2019, and since it was a Christmas Eve special, there’s plenty of angst and frustration floating around since it’d kill the writers to have a happy episode heading into the holidays. But then that gives the characters something to come together over and make the holiday a success, so that’s a good thing. Speaking of dealing with issues, it’s time for Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) to worry about Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson).
CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers Throwback For June 5: Lost brother
Jack stops by Billy’s to see how his brother’s doing as Billy finishes a work call. As they talk, Billy says he feel freer to figure out who he is now that he’s not with Jabot. Jack’s on the fence, but he decides to push ahead and say he’d like to plan Christmas for the family. Unfortunately, Billy and his family are going to Telluride, and while disappointed, Jack’s happy for him. He says it’s good for Billy to spend time with his family, and that he was concerned about Billy.
While Jack means it in a supportive way, Billy get defensive as he knows what’s about to come. As we’ve seen over the last few months, Billy needed to figure out who he was without everyone from the Abbots and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) trying to force him into being something he’s not because he doesn’t fit their vision. Of course, the entire endeavor is hampered by Billy’s previous mistakes, and Jack asks him about therapy.
Billy said his therapist is away (it is Christmas, after all), but he’s talking to someone. He isn’t anymore forthcoming than that, but it’s enough to set Jack’s mind at ease for the time being. While it’s not the typical level we’ve come to expect, and the fact is barely five months old plays a part in that, this is a powerful episode. It serves to remind us where Billy was and compare it to where he is now. His desire to be his own man and be in control have been mentioned time and again, and it’s great to see him making strides toward that goal.
