CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) star Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott) is defending his alter-ego by insisting that there are still some redeeming qualities about his character. Here’s what he has to say.

Jason said while speaking with Soap Opera Digest in a new interview that he recently gained more clarity about his character when he had an evening to himself to think about it. He told the publication, “My wife was sick in bed, the kids were asleep and since I didn’t have to work the next day, I didn’t have any lines to learn, so for the first time in a very long time, I sat down and watched episodes that were shot months ago.”

That’s when Jason says that he saw Billy from a different light. He saw the struggles that his character was going through and in some ways, could relate to them.

The actor continued, “I got to see how my story really played out. Usually, I only see it through Billy’s perspective, but this time, I got to see what we’re trying to say about him as told through Victoria’s story. I saw it from both sides. The guys is trying. He’s really trying. He’s not great at it but he’s not scared of trying, and I really appreciate that about him. He’s not the most elegant guy all of the time, but he’s trying.”

With that said, it looks like Billy is really going to have to try hard in the coming weeks, especially if he wants to win back Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). That’s because there’s a strong possibility that she won’t forgive him for some of the things he’s done with Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan). Of course, ‘Young and the Restless’ fans will have to tune in for all of the action!
