BBC ‘EastEnders’ spoilers is coming back! Fans from both sides of the pond are rejoicing as new reports indicate that the cast and crew of the hit BBC primetime soap are returning back to the set to start filming new episodes by the end of June. The show will actually run out of new episodes by the end of next week. Here’s what you need to know.
According to the BBC executive producer Jon Sen said that when the show does eventually return with new episodes later in 2020, it will air four 20-minute episodes per week. Right now, there are only two episodes per week along with a behind-the-scenes show called Secrets From The Square.

Sen said, “Resuming production is incredibly exciting and challenging in equal measure. Since we postponed filming, we’ve been working non-stop trialling techniques, filming methods and new ways of working so that we can return to screens four times a week – as EastEnders should be. Filming will inevitably be a more complex process now, so creating 20 minute episodes will enable us to ensure that when we return, EastEnders will still be the show the audience know and love.”
Of course, it didn’t take very long for many Eastenders and soap fans to respond to the news. Quite a few comments included, “Cannot wait to dive back into EastEnders! I’m guessing a lot of two-hander type scenes,” along with, “On the time reduction, an interesting strategy, and at least one or more American soaps might want to consider returning to the half-hour format. Always preferable anyway.”
Another fan wrote, “This is great news but what about the American soaps? When are they going to start filming again? I cannot believe that the networks haven’t said anything yet. They are doing a huge disservice to the fans. I want everyone to remain safe and healthy, but they should at least communicate their plans with the viewers.”
