EastEnders spoilers finds that it looks like the popular British primetime soap Eastenders is starting off fresh. There are new reports that say the producers of the hit BBC soap is looking to scrap all of their storylines and start with brand new fresh ones now that they are looking to film again. Eastenders, along with the rest of the television and film industry both in the UK and in the US, all halted production because of the global coronavirus pandemic back in mid-March. Here’s what you need to know.
According to Britain’s the Sun, the producers and writers of Eastenders have decided to “cut short storylines in a post-Covid-19 reboot for the ailing soap.” One insiders close to the situation put it this way, “Pulling the plug on old plots will, in effect, start a second series with future episodes. They’re planning big storylines and a big marketing push — but that may mean they just start new stuff from scratch rather than continuing where they’re already at so they can be dramatic as possible.”
EastEnders Spoilers: The show is Scrapping All Storylines To Start Off Fresh – Should American Soaps Do The Same?
Now, as far as whether or not American soaps like ‘Young and the Restless’, ‘Bold and the Beautiful’, ‘General Hospital’ and ‘Days of Our Lives’ should do the same thing, fans seem to be split. Some comments from daytime television viewers have included, “I think EastEnders’ move is excellent. But, I wish they would have kept this info under wraps. I’m watch the show on BritBox and, immediately, have lost interest in what I’m watching because it’s pointless, now,” along with, “EastEnders is rebooting story because they want to. I don’t believe that anyone at any American soap feels like they’re doing anything wrong. Despite declining ratings, Brad Bell and Frank Valentinti will continue on with their losing visions.”
Another fan put it this way, “Good. I can believe this. EastEnders’ Big Boss is The MVP of UK Soaps, Kate Oates. I haven’t seen anyone like her on the soap canvas in a decade. She has turned three of the four biggest UK soaps around, plus now has a hand in medical dramas Casualty and Holby City. *She* is someone the US soaps could use.”
