ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal there’s a long history to the Nurses’ Ball. For the past week, we’ve only seen the past few years of that history. However, the 90s were the time for this event, and we wanted to check out some clips to mention a few of our favorites over a near-decade before the modern balls.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Fun times
First off, we went back to 1994, where Stone Cates (Michael Sutton) and Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough) performed a scene from Romeo and Juliet. Having seen a couple bits of their story back when it first aired, and reading up a bit on it, we thought it was a sad, yet fitting choice. They obviously had the crowd in the palm of their hands, and it was a foreshadowing of Stone’s loss. It connects us more with the purpose and reason for this event and is a reminder of how far things have come since them.
But there were a lot of fun moments, too. ‘General Hospital’ spoilers indicate some of these early balls had some unique and funny moments. We especially loved the 1994 performance of Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom), Simone Hardy (Felecia Bell), and Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson). Seeing them in the highchairs as they throw bottles at each other was a much-needed laugh amongst the more emotional moments.
We also loved seeing the cast using the Wizard of Oz in their act, too, while our ‘80s kid souls were happy at seeing Juan Santiago (Michael Saucedo), Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst), and Emily Quartermaine (Amber Tamblyn) performing “Footloose”. That was the best one, for us, from a staging perspective. And the dancing took us back to high school when we did a number to this one. But there was another huge flashback.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Flashback
In the ‘90s, we loved Ricky Martin’s music. Especially “Living La Vida Loca”. There was such a carefree vibe to it, so it was nice to see him show up at one of the events, playing Miguel Morez. His performance was probably the best performance, technically, and seeing him with that huge hair was crazy. We’re used to his current look.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Moving moments
The one that got our attention the most was when Robin performed with Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon). They were doing “Someone to watch over me,” and it was going great. Until he started losing it on stage. Watching Robin fall and the discomfort in the audience as he got belligerent on stage was hard to watch. But we loved seeing Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) come to Robin’s rescue as she stood alone on stage. He stood from the audience and sang as he joined her to finish the routine.
We also have to give a special shoutout to watching Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) perform with a young Maxie Jones (Robyn Richards). Off to the side, Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) looked on, clearly thinking about her own daughter.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: How things change
But it was 2001 that really got us. The previous year, Emily was part of the Footloose number. But by 2001, she was on a gurney with a neckbrace while Alan sang to her. Watching the sad faces as her x-rays were examined drove home how fast things can change in such a short time. We’ve loved journeying through a little GH history, and we’re looking forward to the next themes.
