I don’t know about you but when I heard that TLC was giving us early access to ‘Dragnificent‘ I practically leapt with joy! I love this show’s concept and I love all the gals on it and the message that they promote in every episode. They encourage girls everywhere to have healthy self-esteem and with so much media nowadays just tearing away at a lady’s self-esteem, let’s face it. We need all the forces of good in the universe we can get, and Dragnificent’s team is definitely one of them.
This week’s guest was a girl named Corrine. She was a female wrestler who had been engaged for two years to her boyfriend Javier, who was also a professional wrestler. All Corrinne had ever heard all of her life is how she was ‘too big’ and she wasn’t dainty enough or feminine enough and you could tell that it really affected her. People don’t realize when girls have a tough exterior that they have feelings too and words can hurt them. Just because someone doesn’t look like your typical delicate, female ‘flower’, doesn’t meant that their outside reflects their insides, and from what we could see, Corrine’s insides had been cut to ribbons by the various comments over the years.
TLC ‘Dragnificent’ Spoilers: Comfortable either way! Corrine heard all of her life is how she was ‘too big’!
The thing is, Corrinne was actually a pretty girl! There was nothing wrong with her looks. She had a sturdy build, but in my opinion did not look overly butch. No, she definitely wasn’t your typical wrestler chick like you would have seen from the mid-80’s, with the ample amounts of cleavage showing and the bleached hair teased to the hilts. (Hey, sorry, I happen to know wrestling chic pretty well, I lived in the south in the 1980’s. It was more common than you think.) But she also didn’t strike me as overtly masculine as everyone tried to paint her over the years. Her personality, yes that came off as masculine but just by Corrine’s actual looks, I would just judge her to be one of those low-maintenance girls who were too busy to focus on hair and makeup.

For her wedding day, Corrinne wanted to be pretty, and who can blame her? All eyes are going to be on her, after all. So she consulted the team at Dragnificent, and they did not disappoint, let me tell you. However there were definite bumps along the way. First off there was no time to make an alterations to the dress, so they had to buy off the rack. Corrinne specified that there could be nothing asymmetrical so that cut out a lot of choices there, but it was all so overwhelming in the end that she had to run off and take a few minutes for herself. Fortunately, Bebe Zahara was there to coach her through this difficult moment.
One thing that I admire about these gals is that their pride does not get in the way of them respecting another person’s culture. When Corinne said that her wedding was going to be at a Catholic Church and that the church would prefer that they came out of drag, they at first jokingly said no deal but then they said it would be no problem at all. Bebe said all four members of this sisterly quartet are comfortable in and out of drag, so everything’s cool. However, at the wedding reception they did break out respective sparkly pantsuits and did a rocking performance in wigs and makeup. Hey, I guess God is the God of performing arts too! I can’t wait for next week. Stay tuned!!!
