Mindy clarifies in the interview with In Touch Weekly that she is not a quitter. She explains that ending the marriage was a clear decision for her “emotional health.” Mindy states, “I gave my marriage everything I had and then some, but when my emotional health and wellbeing were compromised, it was time to walk away.”
Mindy believes the downfall of her marriage lies completely on Zach’s shoulders. Zach obviously had trouble committing from the start, and this mentally took a toll on Mindy. She says, “There were times when I thought things may have been turning around for the better, but soon I discovered that I was being betrayed. As much as I wanted to be on the same team, that was pretty much impossible for us. … I was quite frustrated because my partner didn’t seem to want to build a marriage with me.”

Though some may think the show’s expert matchmakers could easily be at fault for the way this relationship played out, Mindy understands why she was paired with Zach. She realizes that her “free-spirited, artistic” personality could counterbalance someone like Zach who is “self-discipline[d]” and “structure[d].” Mindy details, “Zach and I both prioritize health and wellness, and our jobs are quite similar. I think the experts saw an opportunity for us to really bring out the best in each other.”

Despite her disastrous marriage, Mindy is still open to settling down again. She feels her experience on MAFS has prepared her more fully to find a compatible partner down the road. “I knew I was ready for marriage [before the show],” Mindy reveals, “because I had taken the time to become a complete person on my own and I wanted to share my life with someone else…One great thing about this experiment is it forces you to carefully examine what you want and need in a partner. All those questionnaires and interviews really help!”
