Watchmen on HBO has been a huge success for the channel. With HBO’s opportunity to seed out the darkness in a story, and not shy away from controversy it’s no wonder. Watchmen is about as dark a story as you can get, with murder, sex, and the ultimatum of the death of few for the lives of many. The film by Zack Snyder tackled many of the same elements from the comic. Even directly reflecting panels from the book straight into the film.
With so much lore and character backgrounds, it was only a matter of time before something like this was adapted to television. The only question was what channel would take a risk with the darker story. After HBO’s success with several shows that leaned on human conscience, it was a no-brainer!
HBO Shows ‘Watchmen’ Behind The Scenes – The Magic Behind The Screen
Today, on HBO’s YouTube channel, they released a new video. A video that broke down and showed you behind the scenes construction of the sets and more! It is just over three minutes but shows us well over a dozen scenes.
Watch as they tear down a scene one layer at a time, down to the bare bones of the CGI. It’s incredibly amazing what they are able to do with almost nothing! From scenes with just human actors, and building everything around them. To deleting things from the screen and replicating or producing something new entirely! Check out the video below to see what I mean.
The Future Of The HBO Hit Series
The future of Watchmen, regardless of how great the first season was, hangs in the balance. The show itself takes place three decades after the events of the comic. Perhaps the coolest thing about Watchmen is seeing the giant space squid from the graphic novel, that was reluctantly left out of the Zack Snyder adaptation.
Many fans of the show say that a second season isn’t warranted. That the show had a great story, and it was told. How much further could they take it? Perhaps the biggest issue with any series is when they are stretched too far. Now, stretching past one season may sound like we’re being a bit overdramatic.  However, once a story is told, there’s no need to convolute it. Therefore, unless writer/creator Damon Lindelof has another spectacular idea that can be told over a second season maybe we should just let greatness be greatness.
