Earlier last week Camila took to her Twitter account to point out that fact that there has never been a nomination or even a win for a Hispanic woman in the lead actress category. Of course, it didn’t take long for her fans and critics to respond, as the Miami born and bred actress is simply bringing to light something that actors and actresses of color have been talking about for many years now. As many daytime television viewers can recall, it wasn’t until 2009 that actress Debbi Morgan was nominated for Lead Actress at the Daytime Emmys Awards.
THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A NOMINATION NOT TO MENTION WIN FOR A HISPANIC WOMAN IN THE LEAD ACTRESS CATEGORY. Think about this, the people in the judging panel are the ones that nominate, YOUR PEERS!!! #sad #somanytalentedpeople #popularitycontest #daytimeemmyssowhite

But one fellow soap star, Chloe Lanier, decided to respond to Camila by pointing out that the system doesn’t base things on race, but on talent instead. She wrote, “I’ve been a judge for the Emmys the past three years and would never vote against someone based on their race and none of my peers would either. There’s an overwhelming amount of women submitting to each category – it’s a competition, plain and simple.”
It didn’t take very long for Camila’s fans to respond and within a very short time, Chloe was forced to defend herself from the backlash. But because it was a little too late, the actress completed deleted her Twitter account. So far Camila Banus has made no comments about Chloe’s controversial response.
