Tuesday, May 20th La Reina del Sur spoilers show just how well Teresa Mendoza (Kate del Castillo) has taught her daughter, and hints at a potential alliance that may take down Epifanio Vargas (Humberto Zurita). If you missed all the action, let’s get to your La Reina del Sur recap.

La Reina del Sur spoilers: Guerra?

Siso Pernas (Miguel Ángel Blanco) starts things off on the phone with Zurdo Villa (Flavio Medina). Zurdo isn’t happy with him not showing up when he was supposed to, but Siso has an excuse—he had to deal with a woman. Zurdo is incredulous at first, but when he learns the woman was Teresa, he’s interested. After all, the guy’s got an altar to her. Zurdo mentions that he’s heard of her on the news, but just knows she’s been missing. Zurdo’s interested to learn more about Teresa and what she might have done to him. All Siso is interested in is putting a bullet in her. Zurdo definitely doesn’t look thrilled by that. Could we be seeing the beginning of a war between these partners?

La Reina del Sur spoilers: Betrayal and bad moves

Teresa is busy today trying to get her daughter back. She’s been searching the streets ever since she learned about Sofia Dantes’ (Isabella Sierra) escape. To get clues, she’s talked César ‘Batman’ Güemes (Alejandro Calva) into bringing her to the safe house where Sofia was kept. She examines the painting left behind. She sees the initials “FB” in the painting and asks about it. Batman explains it away as being his middle name and nickname, but we’re thinking he’s un mentiroso.

Teresa asks more about Morgana (Norma Angélica), and finds out about the accident and Sofia’s part in it. She seems angry at the idea Sofia’s to blame, and proposes a deal to Batman. She wants him to work with her, but Batman is reluctant. Betrayal means death here, and he’s not looking to get taken out just yet. Besides, he still has trust in Epifanio. Teresa thinks he’s an idiot, and leaves the offer on the table.
We really love Oleg Yasikov (Antonio Gil), by the way, because he was seeing through this guy the whole time. He calls him out for actually wanting to take Epifanio out, and Teresa makes one final offer before leaving. If he finds her daughter before the others and returns her, Teresa will take out Epifanio herself.
Later, Teresa makes a huge mistake in telling Francesco Belmondo (Raoul Bova) her plan to find Sofia and take off, but also gets a breakthrough. She and Oleg arrive at the subway station and pay to see any footage with her daughter in it. The worker’s surprised a second person’s looking for this kid. Teresa and Oleg question him before she shows a picture of Alejandro Alcalá (Mark Tacher). The man identifies him as the one searching for Sofia.

La Reina del Sur spoilers: Piecing it together

Speaking of Epifanio, he and Alejandro are going over the info again and realize that Sofia must be living inside the station.

Batman later shows up and wans them they can’t bring Sofia back to the safehouse. The accident has caused too much attention, and he wants to leave the kid in Teresa’s former homeland. He believes that Teresa will keep focusing on Mexico, and never imagine that her daughter’s in her own back yard.

La Reina del Sur spoilers: Close calls

Sofia and Teresa have two close calls tonight. One is when Sofia is spotted by Francesco. He is about to get out and grab her, when Mrs. Mercedes arrives to take Sofia and Simon elsewhere. She claims to like Sofia so much that she’s going to give the pair a street in a rich section.

Later, Teresa just misses seeing Sofia in Mrs. Mercedes’ car, but she does see Francesco. She’s curious what’s he’s doing her and follows him, not knowing he’s following Sofia. She confronts him, again missing Sofia, and he claims to have come back early. She makes a huge mistake by telling Francesco the new plan.

La Reina del Sur spoilers: Shady business

Jonathan Peres (Tiago Correa) has brought the scan he made to someone who uses it to make a key. He’s surprised to learn the key actually belongs to a bank security box, and believes that Jonathan might be plotting a robbery. Jonathan pays the guy for the key, and then pays him more for his discretion. Hmm. What might Manuela (Paola Núñez) be hiding there?

Speaking of Manuela, Sergio (Eduardo Pérez) is surprised to see her back with his abuela. He wasn’t expecting her to be coming back home. He seems happy about it, and claims he missed the call because he was studying. Right…

La Reina del Sur spoilers: Body count rising?

At only nine years old, Sofia is indirectly responsible for Morgana’s death. Tonight, she might have caused another. See, when Mrs. Mercedes brought them into the house, she separates the kids, then sends Simon packing while Sofia dresses up. She’s planning to sell Sofia to a perv.

What the bad guys don’t know, is this girl is smarter than they know, and Sofia’s questioning everything right off. She gets even more uneasy when the perv arrives and Simon is still nowhere to be seen.
Mrs. Mercedes leaves the man alone with Sofia after taking some money, and Sofia starts hearing her mom’s voice in her head. She’d warned Sofia about how her body is her own, and to beware of anyone who makes her feel uncomfortable. The guy starts offering her money, but Sofia immediately eyes the credit cards in his wallet. He, thinking he’s reeled one in, offers to let her have one of them. She plays along until the card’s in hand, then slices the guy’s throat. She’s trying to escape through the window when the episode ends.

La Reina del Sur spoilers: Hard truth

Charo (Carmen Flores Sandoval) gives Cayetana Segovia (Luisa Gavasa) some hard truths today, telling her she needs to stop staring at images of her son and learn how to forgive. She warns Cayetana that her hate and need for revenge is eating her alive, and that forgiveness is the only way to get peace. Cayetana doesn’t appreciate the advice, and reminds her that’s not what Charo’s being paid for. Charo replies the advice is free.
