‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers relate that Gilles Marini might play a ruthless lawyer by the name of Ted Laurent in Salem, but off screen he’s nothing like his character. As a matter of fact, the handsome actor recently weighed in on the college admissions scandal and said that it’s not his place to throw rocks at the parents who paid bribes to get their kids into college.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers – Gilles Marini (Ted Laurent) Weighs In On College Admission Scandal, Rips Into Entire Education System: “It’s Wrong, It’s Wrong”
Just last week it was reported that former soap star Lori Loughlin, along with her husband Mossimo Giannulli (of Target t-shirt fame), were indicted for apparently bribing college admission administrators to accept their daughters, Olivia and Isabella, into prestigious universities. Fellow actress Felicity Huffman was also arrested and is facing charges on conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud in connection with the scandal.

While a lot of people have either criticized or poked fun at the actresses for spending so much money to send their kids to school, Gilles isn’t one of them.
“You know, to be honest, this is nothing new, I’ve been hearing stuff like this for a long time,” the Days of Our Lives hunk explained to Us Weekly at the grand opening of The Barbershop Cuts and Cocktails at The Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas on Friday, March 15. “Especially with athletes.”
He also pointed out that many parents would help out their kids the same way that Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman did, although in less extreme cases.
Gilles said, “At the end of the day, the fault is clearly 50/50. Maybe it’s 60/40, because when you have money and you love your kids, maybe you’re going to make that mistake. I know it’s not ethical, I’m not going to throw any rocks [at Lori Loughlin], but I think these massive corporations, the education system here, making sure that if you don’t go to college, you don’t have a life. And that’s wrong, education is not meant for that. It’s wrong, it’s wrong.”
