Y&R Spoilers: Is Billy About to Get Screwed by Phyllis?

Billy Abbott is finally realizing just how dangerous this situation could become.

On the Wednesday May 7th episode of The Young and the Restless, Phyllis was scrambling to stay ahead of the growing scandal surrounding the fake evidence against her when Billy showed up demanding answers. But the deeper their conversation went, the more it felt like Billy was starting to understand something important: if this case gets worse, Phyllis may protect herself before anyone else.

When Billy arrived at Summers Conglomerate, Phyllis was already in full crisis mode, barking orders to PR and trying to get ahead of the damage from her arrest.

Billy wasted no time getting to the point. He wanted to know if the emails were real and how she could have let things spiral this badly. Even though he clearly believes Victor is behind the setup, he also knows that doesn’t automatically make Phyllis innocent in the eyes of the law.

And more importantly, he knows his own name is floating around this mess now too.

Phyllis tried calming him down by insisting none of the emails actually came from him, but Billy wasn’t exactly reassured. At this point, he knows being connected to Phyllis at all could become a problem.

    The Cane Comment Said Everything

The biggest warning sign came when Billy asked about Cane.

Phyllis immediately brushed him off and declared that Cane was “on his own.”

Cane had just been arrested, and instead of sounding concerned or defensive, Phyllis practically detached herself from him instantly. It was survival instinct kicking in.

And if Billy was paying attention — which he definitely was — he had to notice how quickly she was willing to let someone else twist in the wind once they became a liability.

That naturally raises the question: if things get worse, would she do the same thing to Billy?

Billy Is Trying to Protect His Future

Throughout the conversation, Billy kept circling back to one thing: he does not want to go down with her.

He reminded Phyllis that Sally is pregnant and that he’s trying to build a different life now. There was a noticeable shift in his attitude during these scenes. Instead of jumping into battle beside Phyllis the way he might have in the past, he seemed focused on creating distance between himself and the disaster unfolding around her.

That’s probably smart considering Victor Newman is involved.

Billy knows Victor doesn’t just target one person. If Victor sees an opportunity to destroy multiple enemies at once, he’ll take it.

Michael’s Arrival Changed the Mood Immediately

Things became even more tense when Michael showed up.

The second Billy realized legal strategy discussions were happening behind closed doors, his guard went up even further. Then Michael dropped another bombshell: Cane had been arrested too.

And that’s when Phyllis said something Billy probably would not have loved hearing.

She suggested they pin everything on Cane.

It happened fast, but it revealed a lot about where her head is right now. Instead of focusing entirely on proving the evidence was fake, her instinct immediately shifted toward finding someone else to absorb the fallout.

Michael tried redirecting the conversation back toward establishing reasonable doubt, but the moment still landed hard.

Because once somebody starts thinking about shifting blame, everybody around them becomes nervous.

    Sally Sees the Danger Too

Later, when Billy updated Sally about everything that happened, she immediately worried that Phyllis or Cane could eventually turn on him to save themselves.

And honestly, that fear feels justified.

Billy tried acting confident and insisted none of this would become their problem, but the situation already feels way too close for comfort. His name has been mentioned, he’s tied to Phyllis professionally, and Victor has never exactly passed up an opportunity to make Billy’s life miserable.

Sally can see the cracks forming already.

Is Phyllis Going to Save Herself First?

    That’s the real question now.

Phyllis is under enormous pressure. She’s dealing with criminal charges, Victor’s revenge campaign, Christine’s prosecution, and a defense strategy that even Michael admits looks complicated.

People get unpredictable when they feel cornered, and Phyllis has a long history of making desperate decisions when survival is on the line.

Maybe she genuinely intends to keep Billy protected. But if things start collapsing around her, it’s not hard to imagine her making moves that benefit herself first and worrying about the consequences later.

And Billy clearly knows it too.

That’s why he warned both Phyllis and Michael that if they throw him under the bus, he’ll burn them right back.

At this point, nobody trusts anybody — and that usually means things are about to get much worse.
