Awaken with JP is one of those YouTube accounts we’ve been enjoying so much. This account is one of those places where people who don’t feel like they fit into modern society can hear from someone who goes against the grain. One of his videos, What it’s like to believe everything the media tells you, went viral. Well, it looks like there’s a problem that comes along with that. Here’s what you need to know.

So, you can probably tell by the title of that video, he probably wouldn’t be winning any points with the mainstream media. He expresses idea that many other people share, but maybe are afraid to express it. Accounts like this, as we mentioned, create a place for discussion and thought. Unfortunately, that seems to be a bad thing these days. At least, for some people.
Awaken with JP silenced
Apparently a recent video didn’t sit well with some of the PTB. In a recent Facebook post, he spoke about a video he did that was recently taken down by the platform. We’re not sure what the topic was at this point, but we also know it’s not exactly new these days. A lot of people are being silenced online over videos and other publications that don’t fit with the popular opinion. These posts usually bring a warning someone didn’t meet community standards or some other justification. Two of the biggest platforms seem to be the ones where these stories are coming from the most. Some people just sigh and move on. Others decide to fight back. That’s what Awaken with JP did.
Awaken with JP takes a stand
So, not long after the video went down, JP took to his Facebook account to share why the video was gone with fans. He also felt compelled to share his feelings on the situation.
Besides talking about the dangers of censorship and how it’s vital modern town halls like social media platforms are free of it. We agree and would add that it’s especially important this year. With lockdown measures keeping people from gathering in bars, parks, and other places, virtual communication is sometimes all people have. Here’s a little bit of what the YouTuber had to say.
“My love for humanity and human expression is immense. Right now, we’ve already begun sliding down a slippery slope.”
He added, “Freedom of speech is one of the most beautiful gifts in life. If it continues to erode away into nothing more than a memory, it won’t happen with me sitting on the sidelines.”

The post has over 30,000 shares to date, and over 79,000 reactions from people who resonated with what he had to say. In addition, fans chimed in with their own thoughts.
One FB user said, “Although I don’t always agree with everything you say, I 100% agree that we must all have freedom of speech.”
Someone else said, “JP, it’s time for other platforms to grow. The root problem is the lack of competition to keep these platforms conciliatory to their stakeholders.”
