‘Young and the Restless’ spoilers report that the soap opera world was rocked when we heard the news of Kristoff St. John’s death in February. His cause of death has been revealed and it may seem that there is a lot more to the story than anyone thought. After the autopsy was done, suicide has officially been ruled out. It appears that he died of a type of heart disease. Abusing alcohol caused this type of heart disease.

‘Young and the Restless’ Spoilers – Kristoff St. John’s Official Cause of Death Revealed: Accident From Substance Abuse, Suicide Ruled Out

St. John and his wife, Mia, lost their son Julian to suicide and both of them were very open about struggling with his death. Mia said that he would often blame himself and drank quite heavily to deal with the grief of it all. She did take Kristoff to a treatment center at one point during their marriage. He just seemed to be in a very bad place mentally, and now it seems that physically he was too.

Kristoff St. John fought depression, just like his son. He spent some time in a mental hospital after a suicide attempt. He was trying very hard to fight off the depression and feel better about himself and his life. There seemed to be no hope in sight for him. His friends and family said the death of Julian was just too hard for him to get over.

When St. John died, we all feared the worst. We all immediately thought it was suicide. Even Mia St. John mentioned their last phone call was filled with suicidal thoughts and it did scare her. The heart condition that caused his death is generally caused by alcohol abuse and it is called hypertrophic heart disease and it makes it difficult for the heart to pump blood. Many people never even know they have it.

It was rumored that Kristoff St. John was on a heavy drinking binge when he died. That may be why he had many depressing and suicidal thoughts that he shared with Mia. There is a possibility that he may have known that he was dying any day and had to share with her how he felt. We will never know if he knew, but all we can do is keep his family and friends in our thoughts.

There will be many tributes to St. John on the Young and the Restless coming up and we will even get to see more of the stars returning to the show after many years. We cannot wait to see who shows up for his memorial services.

    B. Novak is and has always been a soap opera lover. He was first introduced to the world of soaps when his mom used to watch them when he was a kid in French. Yes, in French! That's how he first discovered the wickedly delicious beauty of the sinuous storylines that make the soap opera world. He had to take a break for some time due to other life commitments but he's back to watching Soap Operas and looks forward to writing about them each and every day.
