‘Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers finds that one of our favorite celebrity couples from the soap world is calling it quits. New reports indicate that ‘Young and the Restless’ alum Justin Hartley (Adam Newman) is pulling the plug on his marriage to ‘Days of Our Lives’ star Chrishell Hartley (Jordan Ridgeway). That’s right – Chrishell’s character just got killed in Salem and now her husband is asking for a divorce. Talk about one awful way to end the year.

According to reports, Justin Hartley had filed the paperwork this week and stated the classic “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split. It is also noted that Justin said in the documents that the couple had broken up back in July, which seems to be strange for a lot of fans as they were still making public appearances just last week. And yes, both Justin and Chrishell looked to be very happy with one another. The pair attended the Emmy Awards together on Sept. 22, the Veuve Clicquot Polo Match in Los Angeles on Oct. 5, and a Hollywood Reporter-sponsored pre-Golden Globes party on Nov. 14.

People Magazine reports that the couple have been having problems for quite some time, even though from the outside it looked like all was well with them. Apparently, Chrishell Hartley was hoping to start a family while Justin wanted to continue focusing on his career.
“In many ways, they’re somewhat fundamentally incompatible,” the source told the publication. “Chrishell is really ready to just settle down and be a wife and stay-at-home mom and was hoping to start a family relatively soon. Justin wants that but also doesn’t think it has to happen in the near future and is at a point in his career where he wants to really be able to explore all the options that are coming his way. He’s reached a new level of fame thanks to the show and he doesn’t want to close many doors right now, and that’s not the path Chrishell is looking to take. She thought babies would happen soon after they got married, but it just hasn’t worked out.”
