Yolanda Hadid has defended her comments about telling her daughter, Gigi Hadid, to just eat a ‘couple of almonds’ when she felt unwell.
Yolanda Hadid Defends Her Controversial Almond Comments
Yolanda, for her part, initially faced a lot of criticism when a TikToker called her out over comments that she made on the ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.’ In the video here, we can see that Yolanda has made the comment about the almonds.
But in doing so, the TikToker questioned Yolanda’s parenting by stating the following: “[She] made sure they never ate anything too calorie-dense, not even cake on their birthday.”
While Yolanda would go on to shade the haters by sharing a clip of herself eating some almonds, the fact of the matter is that she has had no choice but to clarify her comments which have generated controversy.
This particularly since her daughter, Bella Hadid, has been vocal about having had an eating disorder. In an interview with People, Yolanda cleared up any misunderstandings that may have emerged.
She said: “Gigi was calling because she wasn’t feeling good and I apparently said, half asleep, ‘Have two almonds. I don’t even remember why two or what. There was no rhyme or reason to it. It’s such a silly narrative that is out there, that has nothing to do with the reality of our lives.”
This was not the only source of controversy on the show, however. Yolanda was also criticised on the basis that she had told off Gigi for eating at her birthday party. And in the process of doing so, she made it absolutely clear to her daughter that she could have one ‘cheat’ day before she would have to go back on her regimented diet.
This perhaps may explain the tough demands that are required in order to be in the modelling industry. In some comments on the franchise, Yolanda told Gigi: “You can have one night of being bad. And then, you’ve got to get back on your diet.”
