Prince Harry could be yearning for his old life, as he’s made ten solo engagements twelve days in a mini quasi-royal tour without his wife, Meghan Markle.
Harry Is Trying To Convey The Image Of The Dutiful Royal
Last week, he went to New York City to promote his charities. He’s been seen everywhere, from a Diana Awards event to the Clinton Global Initiative to The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
He even made a personal trip to a Lower East Side tattoo parlor. At the Diana Award, the Duke took the stage to discuss the importance of “mental fitness.”
At the Clinton Global Initiative, he warned his audience about the dangers of social media. After many charity events, he jetted off to Africa to visit the small mountain kingdom of Lesotho.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said, “Harry showed his best side during his action-packed solo trip, ” which could be a sign that the “real” Prince Harry is starting to shine through.
Harry may be trying to convey the image of the dutiful royal with these solo ventures. He has hinted that he would be willing to work as a part-time royal.
Queen Elizabeth was very much against that and made it clear to Harry and Meghan when they stepped down as working royals in January 2020 that there would be no half-in, half-out arrangements for them.
In the past week or so, we did get a glimpse of the Harry we once knew. His speech at WellChild came from the heart; you could tell he truly cares about these kids with health challenges and their families.
The Duke Is A Different Person Without Meghan
Harry has been a patron of WellChild for over fifteen years. It’s one of the few patronages he’s kept since he stepped down as a working royal.
Before the Duke was married, he would approach his charitable endeavors much like his mother, Princess Diana, with a sense of compassion and duty. When he is with Meghan, it looks like they are doing their work more for show.
While the idea of him returning to the royal fold part-time is ridiculous, he is obviously a different person when Meghan isn’t part of the equation.
Harry has also contacted former royal aides, possibly looking to reconnect with his family and return to the royal fold.
The Duke of Sussex may never return to his family’s good graces. However, that doesn’t mean he should stop giving his time and attention to worthy causes as long as it’s for a pure and positive motive.
Harry co-founded the charity Sentable with Prince Seeiso in 2006 to help children affected by inequality, poverty, and AIDS in Lesotho and Botswana.
Should Harry return to helping good causes, Meghan can focus on her lifestyle brand. American Riviera Orchard, could make money—if ARO ever gets off the ground.
Of course, Harry won’t get the arrangement he wants with the royal family. He won’t be getting his royal patronages or military titles back. He would need to be choosy about his causes.
If he’s serious about following in his mother’s footsteps, we may see more of the “old” Harry.
