Will Smith has shockingly opened up about how he once considered the possibility of committing suicide.
Will Smith Admits He Considered Suicide
The Hollywood actor made the revelation during his new documentary ‘Will Smith: The Best Shape of My Life.’ This was an in-depth journey into how Will was aiming to get into shape and remove those unwanted pounds.
Whilst physical health is a primary source of concern, Will discovered that mental health was equally as important. And during this period of introspection, he discovered some home truths.
During a scene of the documentary, Will said: “When I started this show, I thought I was getting into the best shape of my life, physically.
“But, mentally, I was somewhere else. And, I ended up discovering a whole lot of hidden things about myself.” This begs the question, what could have made Will feel like this?
Well, on closer inspection, it looks as though he was going through some family troubles. His son, Jaden Smith, had spoken on how he wanted to move away and forge a life without his father.
Given that Jaden was only 14 at the time, it was the last thing that he wanted to hear as a parent. In addition, things were not going well with his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
Despite being married for over two decades, they had some huge hurdles to overcome. It turns out that Jada admitted to being attracted to women, and this was something initially hard to contend with.
All of this could have played a part in Will’s fragile mental health. He added: “That was the only time in my life that I ever considered suicide.”
It has taken a lot of courage for Will to open up to his fans. After all, being in the public eye is not easy. And yet, he has decided to stay true to his fan base by showing his vulnerability.
Although he may appear as a global superstar, he informed his fans that anyone could go through something like this. In this way, his acting has helped him hide from his troubles.
He continued: “What you’ve come to understand…Will Smith… is largely a construction, a carefully crafted and honed character designed to protect myself.”
