Will Smith is reportedly concerned at the prospect that he could end up canceled, as a result of his slapgate saga at the Oscars involving Chris Rock.
Will Smith Is Worried Over His Future-‘His Biggest Fear Is…Being Fully Canceled’
The actor has come under heavy fire after he lashed out at the comedian following the latter’s joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair loss. Subsequently, Netflix and Sony have decided to postpone two of Will’s upcoming projects, one of which includes a potential ‘Bad Boys 4’ movie.
And with there being so much uncertainty over where the actor should go from here, there is natural trepidation concerning his career. After all, which director would want to take the risk of handing Will his first role in the aftermath of this incident.
A source said: “He feels terrible and is trying not to panic, but seeing his roles put on ice has been a hugely bitter pill to swallow. His biggest fear is that he’s in the process of being fully canceled.”
In reality, there is bound to be some push back. There was a general feeling that the actor had not been sufficiently held accountable. Not only was Will allowed to keep his Oscar, but the very fact of the matter is that Chris decided to not file charges.
While that is ultimately the prerogative of the latter, people were annoyed that Will had gotten off lightly. Thus, he has no choice but to accept what may come his way. The source added: “There’s nothing he can really do about it except sit back, suck up his punishment like a man and try to atone however he can.”
Unlike Will, Chris’ popularity has continued to skyrocket. And this was ultimately a result of the composure that he managed to show, especially when there was every reason for him to lash out in kind. If Will has learnt anything from this incident, then he should take a leaf out of Chris’ book.
