Will Smith returned to his high school to receive a positive reception following his infamous 2022 Oscars slapgate incident.
Will Smith Cheered Upon Return To His High School
There was understandably trepidation over whether the actor would be welcomed in public after he decided to slap comedian Chris Rock, as the latter made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair loss.
This was particularly since Will did not apologise at the time. And even when he did do so later, it is claimed that Chris has not spoken to him since then. And yet, any signs that Will would not be welcomed were blown out of the water.
He made his way to Philadelphia, and by the looks of it, everyone was happy to see him there. In the clip here, we can see that Will is walking down the hallway as he takes in the school. As he enters the class, the whole room begins to cheer him.
The post was captioned by the following comments: “What an amazing surprise! Today, @willsmith made a surprise visit back to Overbrook High School. More pics and news to come! #phled.”
Once inside, Will decided to take many selfies with the students that were there in order to give back to his school. In addition, he also had some time to look at the school’s yearbook. In another image Will has a massive smile on his face, as he discovers an old high school photo of himself.
And this visit went on to show that it was possible for any of the students to make a name for themselves across the globe, just as Will had done so himself. The fans on social media were delighted at having had the chance to meet the star.
And in the process, they praised his down-to-earth nature. One person wrote: “That was so awesome! He wasn’t too “Hollywood” to give hugs handshakes take pictures. This makes us(Philly)proud.”
