Why Is Princess Eugenie So Crucial To The Royal Family?

Princess Eugenie’s role in the Royal family is often underplayed, and yet, she is one of the most crucial members given by her recent roles.

Why Is Princess Eugenie So Crucial To The Royal Family?

Upon Prince Harry’s return to the UK, the former could have stayed anywhere but decided to stay with her. But the reasons may not be familiar to the broader public. Eugenie and Harry have been very close for several years. This was signified when Harry had let Eugenie stay in his UK cottage, while he moved overseas with Meghan Markle.

Not only that, Eugenie was involved in trying to patch things up between Harry and Prince William by being a go-between. This relationship only got stronger when Harry and Meghan renounced their royal duties, as confirmed in their CBS interview. However, Eugenie was close to other family members too, and none more so than the late Prince Philip.

In a post to her fans on Instagram, we can see many photos of her alongside Philip. The post was captioned by the following comments: “Dearest Grandpa,⁣ We all miss you. You would be so touched by all the tributes that have been shared with me the past few days.” The two were very close together, as she was very active in Philip’s Duke of Edinburgh scheme.

This was an initiative set up to help people learn skills orientated around volunteering and communication. That was something that Eugenie was very fond of. She added: “People remember sitting next to you at a dinner, or shaking your hand once, who remember you saying hello in passing, or remember how much their DofE award meant to them.”

Eugenie’s children will not have the benefit of getting to know their grandfather, but that has not stopped her from speaking about him. She has vowed to pass on her memories to her children. She noted: “I will remember you in your children, your grandchildren and great-grandchildren.” By the sounds of it, Eugenie has already begun to live up to her words.

She recently gave birth in February this year and named her son August Philip Hawke. Unsurprisingly, this was done as an ode to her grandfather. With the funeral scheduled to take place on Sunday, there will be plenty more tributes to come.
