British Royal News says that critics want to know why Prince Harry didn’t do more to help Meghan Markle with her mental health issues while they were still working members of the royal family. Here’s what you need to know.
Meghan Markle has yet again opened up about why she told Oprah Winfrey back in 2021 about her suicidal thoughts during their interview back in 2021. She said, “I don’t want anyone to feel alone. And when you’ve been through anything that’s challenging, and everyone, especially in the past few years with lockdown and COVID, that spike in numbers of people having an experience they might not be voicing.
We all need to, when we can, if we feel brave enough, to just speak honestly about your own experience,” she said: “It gives other people space and the courage to do the same, but more than that to really feel like you’re not alone, because I think that is often what can be the largest hindrance when you feel that way, you don’t see a way out.”
A lot of people seem to be slamming Prince Harry by pointing out that he was the face of a mental wellbeing charity and that he should have given Meghan all the love and support that she needed, rather than complain that the royal family’s HR department didn’t do it. Of course, it didn’t take long at all for fans to comment on social media. Some said, “Where was he in all of this?” along with, “First and foremost Meghan should have gone to her husband to talk about her mental health issues.”
Back in 2021, Kate Middleton’s uncle Gary Goldsmith also weighed in on the matter. Gary questioned Harry’s response to the effects that joining the Royal Family had on Meghan. He said, “Where was he in all this? Surely as her husband, he should have been able to give her the help and support she needed.
He’s a senior Army officer who has been in a war zone. He should be able to stand up for himself and his wife. He shouldn’t claim to be family-centric when he has hurt everyone who loves him. You don’t ask for anonymity and take a step back from public life to then throw your family and your grandmother under a bus on TV. Why would you do that? The Royal Family is not racist, it’s not sexist, it’s not ageist. They are a moral compass.”
