‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers finds that Lydia Plath has been up to her old tricks again, while she was cleaning the Plaths rental properties she was also texting her ‘special friend’, AKA the boy she likes, even though Kim and Barry (mostly Kim) had asked her to cut back and not talk to him.
Lydia’s been pretty good about that, actually. She says that there has not been any communication between them for months and for a 17 year old girl who has a crush on someone – that’s practically forever, so when she was out cleaning and had access to her Mom’s phone, she decided to send him some texts.

Lydia, I applaud you for becoming more sneaky and texting the boy you like while you were away from your parents. You’ve officially reached the hallmark of being a teenager.
Congratulations! It seems that Lydia’s really good at keeping secrets, she even kept Moriah’s news about her promise ring from her folks until Moriah was the one to tell them and she did an amazing job at it.
If she had a little more worldly experience I’d suggest that she grow up to be a secret agent but that’s probably against all Plath beliefs, so we’ll leave that there.
But on the upcoming preview it looks like Lydia has bypassed Mom and has gone to the final boss, Dad, in asking for the thing she wants most, and that is a visit from the boy that she is infatuated with.
In the preview, Barry says that the Plaths don’t really know this boy all that well, which rules out one possibility that was floating around the fandom that it was actually Olivia’s brother that she was communicating with, but not entirely, it could still very possibly be him, we still don’t know who it is.
Will this boy be on an upcoming episode of Welcome to Plathville? We don’t know, and we can’t check Lydia’s social media because she doesn’t have any, Kim and Barry won’t allow that. Although, honestly, she might have social media and it might just be a secret.
There are some people who do have instagram but they are completely private and they only let people that personally know them or family members follow them. (Also the text notification sounded a lot like facebook, so maybe there is a secret account there? We know Kim has facebook but Lydia may have a secret one too – it wouldn’t be the first time a teenager has done this.)
Or Lydia could be completely transparent and just using her Mom’s facebook to text the boy she likes… we hope not though, that could get potentially awkward.
Will we ever get to find out who Lydia’s special friend is? If he’s already 18 then only he would have to sign an agreement agreeing to be filmed by TLC, but if he’s still a minor that might involve parents and if they have a similar belief system to Kim and Barry that permission might just be difficult to obtain. We’ll see. Stay tuned!!!
