‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers tells that after getting friendzoned by his own wife, Ethan Plath has finally decided to move out of Cairo. Last week he went on a 10 day long trip trying to figure things out and see where he would like to live other than Cairo and said that there was a lot of beautiful places that he would like to live in and that ultimately, Cairo wasn’t good for him.
It took Olivia leaving for him to finally see that his lens was too small and he wasn’t looking at the bigger picture. It seems that he actively has been looking at places, whether those places are somewhere Olivia would like to live is still up for debate, but it looks like Olivia’s opinion may not end up mattering so much after all.
‘Welcome to Plathville’: Ethan moves on
He said whether he and Olivia remain together or not, that he’s going to get out of Cairo. One does wonder what his siblings and parents Kim and Barry Plath are going to think about this big move, but since they seem to have let go of Ethan already and left him to his own devices (at least Barry and Kim have, the youngest siblings didn’t have a choice) they may not think too much about it.
After all, in a long ago interview Ethan and Olivia did say that Kim and Barry had told them that they weren’t worried about having a relationship with any granchildren that may come their way – ouch! So probably Ethan just feels like he’s a free agent now.
He did say that getting rid of the house and the cars and ‘responsibilities he didn’t need’ was a good thing for him. It’s a little sad thinking that Ethan was willing to give up pretty much everything he loved about living in Cairo, but maybe eventually he and Olivia can rebuild a life that they both love somewhere else after they’ve spent some time apart and asked the questions that they need to ask out of life.
It’s a little worrisome to think of Isaac and Lydia’s reactions to the move though, since Lydia wanted to spend more time with Ethan (I’m pretty sure she got a job at the autoparts store specifically for that) and just how much of a point of contention Isaac has become, this might really draw the line in the sand between Kim and Barry and the rest of their children, but we’ll see.
