‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers finds that, in the Plath household, last year, it was considered taboo to get a tattoo, or at least it was when Ethan and Olivia Plath broke tradition and Olivia got them both little tiny two of hearts tattoos on their wrists. It was a cute, tiny design that meant something only to them.

However Ethan was reluctant to do it because of the things that he had learned about tattoos growing up. Which, if you grew up in a semi-religious household, you’ll be familiar with.

    ‘Welcome to Plathville’: Moriah’s tattoo

Often times, in a more conservative setting like the Plath household, tattoos are thought of as things that ‘lower class’ people do. Or it’s part of prison culture, or drug culture, or worse, gang culture. In a lot of very religious, conservative households tattoos are forbidden. Some faiths even interpret body art as an affront to God himself.

Now, Kim and Barry haven’t actually come out and said that they believe that way, or what they actually personally believe, really, but it was heavily implied by Ethan last year that tats, like drugs, were not allowed at all in the household and there were serious repercussions for getting one. So much so that he almost had an existential crisis over it with Olivia.

So color us surprised when Moriah Plath piped up and said that she willingly went and gave herself a tattoo for her 18th birthday. Unlike Ethan and Olivia’s tattoo, it was pretty big, on the underside of her arm, and it said “black heart” on it in very black bold font.

She said that she had been wanting the tattoo since she was 13 or 14, to which Lydia piped up and said “15” Moriah at first agreed and then she said she had been wanting the tattoo for 6 years, only, Moriah is just 18… ahem. Lydia told her that she needed to do her math.

Hey, no judgement here Moriah, we can’t all be math whizzes. It seems that her relationship with Lydia has also changed a lot in the past year, last year Lydia could barely come over for dinner once, but this year apparently Kim and Barry have given Lydia a lot more freedom and trust her.

Not that we think anything bad of Lydia’s intentions, we don’t, but since Kim and Barry technically have a spy on the inside, they might be letting Lydia hang out with Micah and Moriah just so they can get all the juicy details of their lives.

Micah and Moriah won’t talk behind Ethan and Olivia’s back, Micah said as much, but Lydia did not make that promise. Lydia said that “circumstances have changed” regarding the Plaths previous stances on things, but one has to wonder what exactly that is… guess we’ll see as the season unfolds. Stay tuned!!!
