Alright, everyone heard it when Lydia said “I’ve found that someone.”, right? Just making sure because some of us are a wee bit concerned about Lydia’s sanity right now. She literally said that she had found the love of her life in The Father, as in, God, as in Jesus Christ… we’re not sure what sort of delusion that falls under, but we’re pretty sure that’s not healthy.

At least not for the sect that the Plaths belong to, simply because there is no IBLP Nunnery, the Plaths are not Catholic so there is no real option for Lydia to devoate herself so wholeheartedly to religion as one would say, in a nunnery where you are literally considered one of the many brides of Christ.

Welcome to Plathville: Is Lydia Plath okay?

The IBLP is the same sect that the Duggars came from, which is a little worrying considering some of the teachings promoted within the organization are considered harmful by many. With the way Lydia seems to be working without a net on a lot of her emotions right now, we wonder if she’s headed for some major, at the very least, cognitive dissonance down the road.

Ethan Plaths had a moment with her last year when he tried to gently get her to start deconstructing her beliefs by asking her if she was sure that she believed all of that, and Lydia still did, hook, line, and sinker. Just like she still does, she believes all of the teachings that Kim and Barry have instilled in her.

The other Plaths seem to be in varying stages of deconstruction, even the youngest Plaths, yes they’re young but Amber Plath has especially showed signs of pushback. However, not Lydia, Lydia is still deeply entrenched in the religious part of her journey.

We’re not saying that’s wrong, if she finds comfort in spirituality, great, but it seems like that is the only thing that she is attempting to find comfort it right now, and sometimes you need other things in your life besides spirituality to complete it. She seems to be perfectly content to be a good girl going to church until the day she dies… but something tells us that when Lydia does start deconstructing? It’s going to be messy and we need to watch out. Stay tuned!!!
