‘Welcome to Plathville’ Spoilers finds that the last we heard about Ethan Plath’s opinion on therapy was that he didn’t want to go because he viewed it as talking to a stranger about his problems for an hour and he didn’t view it as productive, growing up in the Plath’s way of life, one could see where he would adopt this way of thinking and why.

Obviously, the only thing you need to lean on in times of despair is your faith, right? It looks like in the case of Ethan and Olivia’s marriage that that just isn’t enough and Olivia wants to change and accountability on Ethan’s part.

So now he’s agreed to see a marriage counselor. He says that it sucks as much as it’s a good thing, again, coming from his background you could definitely see where the cognitive dissonance is.

He says he knows that whether he and Olivia end up working out that there’s going to be good things in the future but he wishes that he could move his entire house, house and all, to a different place that wasn’t so close to his parents.

It seems that he and Olivia are at least talking in this episode, they talked in the last episode but it was only briefly at the rose garden.

When asked by Olivia how to rate their relationship on a scale of 1-10, he scored it a 1. Olivia was shocked by that, she thought it was a 4. Clearly, he’s taking this way harder than Olivia bargained for, he really wanted his compromise from last week to be enough but it wasn’t.

However, it seems that right now it really is the wisest choice for both of them, to get to know themselves as people before they settle back into married life together. Olivia said that she thought that they had made progress because Ethan didn’t use to want to go to therapy at all.

Ethan said that the trip he took gave him perspective and since he has been working since he was 15 years old he would like a little more free time to explore things and places with Olivia before they had kids. Currently he’s still trying to set up a couples counseling appointment for them, so we’ll see how that goes. Stay tuned!!!
