Danelo Cavalcante was captured this morning at 8:00 a.m. He was still in the Nantmeal township. Now, the nightmare is over—Lt. Col. George Bivens of the PA. State Police announced his capture.

Cavalcante had evaded authorities for two weeks and survived by utilizing the woods with the heavy cover of the trees.

State Police and officers from the surrounding areas have worked tirelessly to locate and capture the felon. The officers who participated were from Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Texas.

State Police provided a statement regarding his capture. They advised what equipment, manpower, and Canine power were used to bring Cavalcante in.

He is being transported to the State Police facility in Avondale. Once he is questioned and processed, he will be taken to a state facility. The police will reveal the facility’s location once the prisoner is processed.

The police pinned down his location with heat-seeking technology. Once the police pinpointed his location, they used a police canine to corner him for arrest.

Some History Regarding His Escape and Capture

Cavalcante escaped from Chester County Prison on August 31, 2023. He used the area of Longwood Gardens to hide. The prisoner then took a truck and drove towards French Creek until the truck’s gas was depleted.

The community stayed vigilant and helped as best they could by following police directions. They have learned the importance of being aware of their surroundings. They also kept their homes and cars locked.

Cavalcante‘s sister attempted to help him, but US Immigration detained her and is in the process of deportation. The prisoner is in our country illegally. He fled Brazil to avoid prosecution for a murder he committed in 2017.

Authorities believe that Brandao discovered his history and was going to report him. Cavalcante will not be deported because of the vicious crime he committed here. There are approximately 11 million illegal (non-documented) people in our country.

Law Enforcement and the community worked together to put this case to rest. It is astonishing how many officers came together to help capture Cavalcante and support the people of Chester County.
