Andre Braugher passed away on Monday after a brief illness. The acclaimed actor, most recently recognized for his role as Captain Raymond Holt in the police comedy series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” has left a lasting impact, having appeared in all 153 episodes alongside Andy Samberg and Terry Crews.
Crews shared a heartfelt tribute on social media, “This hurts. You left us too soon. You taught me so much. I will be forever grateful for the experience of knowing you. Thank you for your wisdom, your advice, your kindness and your friendship.”
In 1993, Andre Braugher made his breakthrough in Hollywood with the role of Detective Frank Pembleton in the NBC drama “Homicide: Life on the Street,” a role that spanned 100 episodes.
Originally from Chicago, Andre pursued higher education at Stanford University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in theatre. He further honed his craft at the Julliard School’s Drama Division.

Andre Braugher made his debut in the film industry with a notable role alongside Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, and Matthew Broderick in “Glory.” Following this, he continued to showcase his talent in various movies, such as “The Mist,” “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer,” and “Frequency.”
Andre Braugher was 61 years old. He is survived by his wife, actress Ami Brabson, whom he married in 1991, and their three children.
