Comedian Jay Leno got the scare of his life when he recently got burned in a gasoline fire while tooling around one one of his many vehicles. As we all know, Leno collects classic cars and likes to work on them from time to time.
It would seem that there was a mishap during the repairs and the left side of Leno’s face got burned, however his eye and ear were not seriously damaged according to reports. “I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I am ok. I just need a week or two to get back on my feet.” the comedian was quoted as saying.
Jay Leno burned in gasoline fire
Ouch! He does seem to be in good spirits though, judging from that quote, which is a good thing. For those of you unfamiliar, Jay Leno was the longtime host of The Tonight Show which he retired from in 2009 after taking over for Johnny Carson in the early 90’s.
At the height of his popularity as a host, The Tonight Show boasted 4.8 million viewers. Since leaving he has had his own show on CNBC called Jay Leno’s Garage and he has also hosted a revival of You Bet Your Life in 2021, so you could say he’s kept busy after his previous gig.
One does wonder if he might use this injury as sort of a PSA with his Garage viewers, simply doing an episode about how this sort of thing can happen to anyone and that sometimes the best laid protocols aren’t enough to prevent something from going wrong, or whatever happened. We don’t actually know the details of what happened the only thing we know is the comedian had to be rushed to the burn unit.
The fact of the matter is this headline could have turned out very differently, we’re glad that Jay only thinks he’ll be set back by a week or two instead of having to stay in that burn unit for an extended period of time. We wish him a speedy recovery. Stay tuned!!!
