Univision news reveals a new series is on the way. On July 14th, 2020, Médicos, línea de vida will premiere. Taking the place of Amor Eterno, it will air at 9 PM EST. Let’s take a look at what we know about this series and a familiar face who’ll be one of the stars.

    Univision news: Change over

As with a lot of Turkish shows we’ve seen on both Univision and Telemundo, Amor Eterno has been on quite a while. That’s because a lot of these shows are around an hour and forty minutes or longer. This basically doubles their airtime here, since our networks usually keep to an hour drama. But, despite the huge popularity, all things must end and a new show comes along to take its spot. This time, the replacement is a unique choice.

    Univision news: The background

Most telenovelas these days are in the Narco Novela genre. Shows like the Paraíso franchise and El Señor de los Cielos follow the lives of people who are on the wrong side of the law. Or just mixed up with them. This usually leads to dramatic, dangerous situations. We like these, but we prefer the ones like Betty en NY or Rubí usually. This upcoming show will be a first for us, as it is set in the medical world.

Univision news reveals Médicos, línea de vida looks to have had a successful first season in Mexico. So much so, it was renewed for season 2. The main plot deals with Gonzalo Olmedo (José Elías Moreno Jr.) taking over as Director of a hospital after the death of his predecessor. The job ends up being far more than he anticipated, as he’ll have to deal with widespread corruption and other issues within the medical system. He’ll set out to assemble a team to clean things up. We’ll also get a look at the personal drama these doctors face during the season.

    Univision news: Familiar face

The name that sticks out to us is Livia Brito. Univision news reveals she will play Regina Villaseñor, who is named Chief of Emergency. If she’s familiar to you, you might have seen her as Yolanda Cadena on La Piloto. That was a show where she played a young woman whose love of flying and desire to be a pilot draws her into the world of drug trafficking. So, this part looks like it will be a departure for her, and we’re curious to see what her character is like.

She’s a recent Days of Our Lives convert, having grown up on the nighttime shows of the '90s. She’s also an accomplished writer in many fields, including paranormal fiction. Jamie loves the crazy twists that Soap Opera writers come up with, even though she's sometimes yelling at the characters. As a published and accomplished writer, she knows how to get into the minds of the writers and is usually bang on in predicting plot twists before they come to life. When she’s not writing for Daily Soap Dish, Jamie binge watches telenovelas as a way to improve her Spanish. They also fuel her muse, which tends to upset her readers.
