Eric Mabius, best known for his role in “Ugly Betty,” found himself on the wrong side of the law early Thursday morning in Florida. The 53-year-old actor was arrested on charges of battery and resisting an officer without violence following a reported altercation at a bar.
The incident, which occurred around 2:13 a.m., paints a chaotic picture. According to the arrest report, Mabius was with a female friend who was asked repeatedly by bar staff and patrons to leave due to her disruptive behavior. The situation escalated when the woman allegedly began spitting on people, including the alleged victim in this case.

When the alleged victim told the woman to leave, a physical altercation ensued. Mabius is accused of then intervening, knocking both his female companion and the alleged victim to the ground. The arrest report further alleges that while the alleged victim was on the ground, Mabius “got on top of her and was pulling her hair, ripping a handful of her hair from her scalp.” Eyewitness accounts corroborate this version of events, with one witness stating that Mabius “slung both girls to the ground.”
Mabius’ mugshot reveals a visible bruise and cut near his right eye, suggesting he may have sustained injuries during the altercation. Police described both Mabius and his female companion as “extremely intoxicated” upon arrival. Mabius allegedly became increasingly belligerent, refusing to comply with officers’ instructions and even attempting to walk behind one of them during the investigation. This led to his arrest for resisting an officer.
The female companion was also arrested for resisting after she allegedly refused to cooperate with officers. The alleged victim has stated her intention to press charges against both Mabius and his friend.
