UFC fans were left of the edge of their seats last night, after Conor McGregor revealed on social media that he is returning to ring after calling time on his retirement. The Irishman revealed that there will be a boxing match next on the agenda for him, as he will be coming up against the legendary Manny Pacquiao.

McGregor revealed the tease in a series of Tweets last night, and even admitted that the fight will be happening in the Middle East. He also admitted in the final tweet that it would be his honour to come up against Pacquiao, as it would have meant that he had shared the ring with two of the modern boxing greats.

UFC News: Boxing Return For McGregor

The news would come as a shock to some MMA fans, as they would have been hoping that McGregor’s next fight would have been back inside the octagon. However, it would seem as though McGregor has other things on his mind. A return to the boxing ring would see McGregor go back on his planned retirement, which he announced shortly after being beaten by Floyd Mayweather in 2017.

In the tweets, McGregor also revealed private messages between himself and Dana White, as the two had been trying to work to set up a UFC bout against Justin Gaethje. However, McGregor revealed in the messages that he was working hard to make the fight happen, and that the reason that it didn’t happen could lie on the side of somebody else. Regardless, if McGregor’s tweets are true, then he will be stepping into the boxing ring again next time we see him.

UFC News: Pacquiao One Of The Best Of All Time

There is no doubting the challenge that will be ahead of McGregor, as Pacquiao is one of the greatest fighters of this, or any other era. The Filippino is the only fighter to have held titles across four decades, and has generated over $1.2 billion in PPV fighters.

He is also the only fighter to have won world championships in eight divisions, and last year he became the oldest welterweight champion of all-time. Pacquiao has already revealed that he is ready for one final fight, and the door has always been open for his challenger to be McGregor.
