The UFC action continues this weekend with another stacked card of bouts at UFC Fight Night. The UFC world has been buzzing for the past week following the amazing UFC 252 show that was put on last weekend and headlined by Daniel Cormier’s last fight in MMA against Stipe Miocic.
Fans will be hoping that the high-quality action continues this weekend, as Frankie Edgar and Pedro Munhoz go toe-to-toe in the octagon in the main event of Fight Night at the UFC APEX.
UFC News: Edgar Looking For Return To Winning Ways
Frankie Edgar is one of the most celebrated fighters in the featherweight division, and has enjoyed huge successes throughout his career. Throughout his time in the UFC, he has beaten some of the most respected fighters to step inside the octagon.
Including former world champions such as Hermes Franca, Urijah Faber and Sean Shrek. As well as that, he has also beaten contenders for titles in the form of Chad Mendes and Cub Swanson.
However, his results since that victory over Swanson would have no doubt disappointed Edgar, as he has lost his last two. The first of those defeats came in July last year when he was beaten via unanimous decision by Max Holloway at UFC 240.
That defeat was quickly followed up with another loss against Chan Sung Jung. Edgar lost that most recent bout via TKO, which is only the second time in his career that he has lost in that manner.
UFC News: Munhoz Has Eyes On Title Opportunity
This will not be an easy fight for Edgar, as he will come into it as the outsider against Pedro Munhoz. The Young Punisher is ranked at number five in the bantamweight division, and has been showcasing some of his best performances in the UFC over the last couple of years. The Brazilian is skilled in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and has lost on just our occasions.
All of those defeats have come via decision, with the most recent of those coming in his last fight against Aljamain Sterling. Before that narrow defeat, he had beaten tough competition in the form of Brett Johns, Bryan Caraway and Cody Garbrandt.
The victory over the latter of those was Munhoz at his brutal best as he won via KO in the opening round. His performance saw him awarded with the Fight of the Night accolade. The chips are stacked against Edgar, and it would be hard to see Munhoz losing for the second fight in a row.
