Funny how it took them this long to make up their minds. There’s a new report that says Travis Scott has been dropped from Coachella’s 2022 lineup. Jim Curtis, the community services manager for Indio, Calif., confirmed the lineup change. Here’s what you need to know.
The news comes as more than 60,000 people signed a petition to remove the rapper from the festival’s list of performers after 10 people died and many more were injured at his Astroworld Festival in Houston on Nov. 5.
Travis Scott Just Got Dropped By Coachella
“With the recent tragedy and unnecessary death at Travis Scott’s Astroworld concert, due to Scott’s own gross negligence and sheer lack of compassion for human life, we ask AEG, Paul Tollet, and Goldenvoice to remove his [sic] as performer at all of their festivals,” the online petition reads.
Scott said in a recent interview that he had no idea that people were dying in the crowd as he continued to perform on stage. Travis told Charlamagne Tha God on his YouTube channel: “It was not until minutes until the press conference (after the show) until I figured out exactly what happened.
“Even after the show you are just hearing things but I did not know the exact details. “And even at that moment you’re like, ‘Wait, what?’ People pass out, things happen at concerts, but something like that…” Scott also said he had been on an “emotional rollercoaster” since the incident.
